About the Author

Hello and thank you for reading Aquarium Advocate! My name is Brian and I have been a “fish collector” for the past 16 years. I’m 31 and started my first aquarium, a Malawi cichlid tank, when I was 15. Since then, I have had aquariums ranging from 10 to 240 gallons and have kept everything from guppies to snakeheads and piranhas. I am a member of my local aquarium society and attended the American Cichlid Association conference this year in Colorado. Right now I have a 10 inch Fahaka puffer that lives with 3 Buenos Aires tetras in a 55 gallon corner tank, a 90 gallon Malawi cichlid tank, a 60 gallon piranha tank, a 20Long killi fish tank, and a 40 gallon tub filled with Tanganyikans. I started this website because I want to be a voice for the hobby. I hope to encourage those thinking about starting an Aquarium for the first time, and also those who have been in the hobby for a long time and need a new challenge. I plan to write articles that will benefit new and advanced hobbyists.  I hope you enjoy! Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or want to make a suggestion.

I’m a dad and husband. In my free time, when I’m not cleaning fish tanks, I enjoy working out and spending time with my family.
